Combined excision and autologous blood injection for oversized cystic bleb
Abstract
Trabeculectomy is the standard surgical treatment for control of intraocular pressure for various types of glaucoma. A complication of trebeculectomy is that the bleb may be very cystic and large, and may extend onto the corneal surface. This is especially common if adjunctive antimitotic agents have been used. An over- sized and overhanging cystic bleb may cause ocular symptoms and may be associated with short- and long- term complications. This report describes a surgical tech- nique combining surgical excision and autologous blood injection for the management of an oversized and over- hanging cystic bleb.
